Good Morning Paper Bead Friends! I thought it was time I jump on and let you all know of some changes going on in my life!

My goal for so many years has been to do my paper bead shop full time! And although that has yet to happen, I am in the process of moving to part time on my day job, so that I can devote more time to my Etsy business. I’ve moved my bead room to another room in the house and I absolutely love it! It’s given me the motivation to continue to pursue my dream! As I try to analyze what is working in my shop and what is not, I am having to make some changes…

For starters, I’ve just reordered the roll pins for my bead tools and WOW! the prices have almost doubled! So a price increase is inevitable in the near future. My time has been so limited for bead making, I feel like I have no choice but to raise prices to cover the labor it takes to bring them to market. I try my hardest to keep my shop items at a reasonable price, to make them affordable for you. Please know when you make a purchase from my shop, you are purchasing my heart and soul that goes into every bead I role, seal, trim and package! I love my little bead shop! It has been a challenge to continue to be in this market and to stay competitive with all the bead makers out there…

Happy New Year Paper Beading Friends! I couldn’t be more ready to bring in the new year and with every new year comes new changes! I’ve spent so much time thinking about this and decided it was time to act on it!

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of The Paper Bead Boutique! I love my Etsy shop and will continue to run and operate it but I have just begun pursuing a new interest in my life and that is Aromatherapy! I am finding it quite fascinating and will be happy when I achieve my goal of being a certified aromatherapist! I am hopeful that I will find and follow a new career path once certified! Good Morning Paper Bead Friends! Hope all is well in your little corner of the world and you all are staying healthy!

This post is not necessarily about paper beads! It’s about handmade and I’d like to know your thoughts….

I participated in two local craft bazaars this season! I was super excited and had a good time but one thing has continued to eat at me through the last few seasons. So many direct sales and folks selling imported items have participated as well and I am wondering why? Why are the coordinators allowing direct sales and things that aren’t handmade/handcrafted into these shows? Now that’s nothing against those that sell Scentsy, Pampered Chef, etc. I am a used of both, however, they are not handmade or hand crafted and I do believe a majority of folks that attend theses shows, attend because they come to find handmade, unique items that you can’t find on every corner. It saddens me that handmade is no longer the focus of these specialty shows anymore. Remember the days when these shows were juried and you had to be accepted once your items were viewed? I wish that the “Handmade” would be put back into these shows!

I have some rather sad news… I have closed my website http://www.thepaperbeadboutique.com. Such a big expense for me to begin with but needed to give it a shot after Etsy raised their prices in the spring. Well I am finding that I just can’t bring the traffic to a stand alone site as I was hoping to!

Good Morning Paper Bead Friends!

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the warmer weather! Summer is almost here and I am looking forward to a busy season!

As most of you may know, I’ve recently had carpal tunnel surgery on both of my hands. So needless to say, beading came to a screeching hault! It’s been about 2 weeks now and I just picked up a beading tool last night to see if I could handle it, as I am still having a challenging time with twisting and turning. It felt really good to be able to bead again but I know I just won’t be doing it as often as I am use to until I am a little more healed!

What I am really having alot of fun with is hand-colored beads as those shown above! Extremely time consuming but the process is really helping me to keep my stress levels calm! I am enjoying it alot! I am also now offering hand colored paper for your own bead making, that comes cut in the sizes listed at no extra cost! Hello Paper Bead Friends!

Alot is going on right now! I’ve been doing alot of thinking lately regarding the changes that Etsy has made and the upcoming increases coming April 11th. I’ve been weighing my options, trying to decide what would be best for me regarding sticking with Etsy or just what to do…So I have decided…

I’ve opened my own website!!! I have a .com address now and couldn’t be happier! The website is up and running but PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ME as I get everything moved over! I will probably continue to keep my Etsy shop open for another few months to grow my traffic, but I think it will all be worth it! Good morning Paper Bead Friends!

Happy New Year! Hope you are all well and keeping safe during this pandemic. We’ve been so busy at work, trying to keep all of our kids safe and not having to close our center. It’s been extremely difficult locating testing sites and/or home tests. It’s brought on an entirely different kind of stress.

I’ve really contemplated closing my shops because I just don’t have the time I once did to keep up with them. I see all the new paper bead shops out there, all the new competition, and I get discourage when I come across yet another shop that appears to have copied various things from my paper bead shop…very upsetting. How can people feel good about that?

I would love to be able stay home and really focus on my shops but unfortunately, that is not in the cards for me right now! So, I continue to plug along, do what I can do, when I can find some time, and move forward. I am very proud of my shops and how far I’ve come, what I’ve accomplished, and the customer based I have worked so hard for! What I offer, the quality and time I put in to making my beads before presenting them to you all, it just means the world to me!

Good Morning Paper Bead Friends!

Hope all is well with you in your little corner of the world! I’ve been a busy girl but unfortunately, not so much with paper beading! I made a decision in my work life to step out of the classroom as a teacher. I’ve come to realize that it had simply become to much for me.

I did decide to take on a position, within the same company, as an assistant director of one of our childcare centers! Sooooo very much to learn and longer hours has left me exhausted with not as much time as I’d like to work on my beads, but very rewarding in so many other ways!

So as I begin this new journey, I thought it was a good time to share with you all that although my time is limited in beading, I am still very much in love with this super fun hobby and dedicated to putting out as many new beading sets as I am able! I am trying to do my beading on weekends and unveil the following weekend!
