What type of Paper Do You Use?

Good Morning Paper Bead Friends! I’ve recently been told that I don’t have enough of a selection of paper bead strips in my shop for beading so I decided this week, that was going to be my goal! I’ve been cutting like a mad woman! I think I now have a pretty nice variety! But as I’ve been cutting, it got me thinking…What does everyone else use to make their paper beads? There are sooooo many types of paper that can be used for beads, I really am curious what everyone else uses! My main source is scrapbook paper! I am always on the hunt for the newest, most colorful papers I can find! I’ve always been obsessed with scrapbook paper! The above pictures are two of my latest strips!

Other types of paper I like to dabble with are, wallpaper, tyvec paper, which is the paper your priority envelopes are made from! I love to make coiled paper beads from colorful napkins! I’ve even tried making my own designs on paper or handpainted paper in the past!

So what do you use? Do you use scrapbook paper? Do you prefer newspaper? Do you paint your beads? I’d love for you to share your preferences! Drop me a line or leave a comment! Until next time, Happy Beading!

My Sealing Process!

Good Evening My Paper Bead Friends!
So many have asked and I thought I had already posted my sealing process
but after checking, I realize I loaded the pics and nothing more...
I currently am using a dipping method for sealing my paper beads!
This is the box that I have 10 cup hooks screwed in to the top of the box
to hold my strands once I dip. As you can see at the end of my strands,
I have what I call "junk beads"! They are beads I roll out of junk paper
that I put at the end of the strands to catch the excess gloss.
I dip the beads and allow the excess to drip back into the can
to save as much as I can. Once I've dipped them, I allow them to dry
at least 12 hrs. but 24 hrs is better!
Once dry, I pull them off the hooks and pop them apart. They usually just
snap apart but occasionally they are left with a bit of residue
and when that happens, I will either sand them down or trim the excess
with a pair of small tipped scissors!
That is the process that currently works for me! What's working for you?
I'd love to hear about it! Until next time, Happy Beading!

My Newest Challenge!

dsc00142Hello My Paper Bead Friends!

It’s been soooo long since my last blog post and I don’t have a good reason as to why except for the fact that I’ve just not made time for it! But I was excited to share with you my latest project that I’ve taken up! I made my first Dream Catcher, incorporating my paper beads in it! I think it turned out pretty nice for my first one! Definitely, lots to learn about this amazing craft!

I was unaware of the meaning behind dream catchers until most recently and am fascinated with the myth!

According to what I’ve read, Dream Catchers are suppost to be hung above one’s bed to catch all the bad dreams within the web. And the small hole in the middle? It is suppost to allow all the good dreams to flow thru and down into ones mind, leaving them with good dream recollection!

I have many ideas for dream catchers, incorporating my paper beads within them! Be watching for them in my Etsy shop!

Until next time, Happy Beading!
